Starting over

So as many of you have heard by now the Hubs did not get selected to be an Officer in the Air Force. Yes we were devastated. Apparently this was the lowest percentage of applicants accepted in a very long time; less than 10% from across the country. We spoke with the recruiter and he strongly urged reapplying, because Hubs was a very strong contender and would more than likely be accepted the next go around. After much discussion we have decided to not pursue it again. As much as it would be an awesome career and life for us, we feel that it wasn't meant to be. I am so proud of my husband and all that he worked for. He is an amazing man and I know that he will excel in anything he chooses to do.

Here is the starting over part...

We have decided to pursue something we both love and live where we would be extremely happy. We will be moving back to California, yay finally!! We will also both be going back to school, Art school to be exact. I am going back for Photography and Hubs will be going back for Illustration. We may be starving Art students, but we will be happy. I am so excited to be moving on soon and starting over again. If you have ever seen Hubs' art you know he'll be an awesome Illustrator.

So here's to living on the Beach and being Art Students!

Oh and btw the above pictures are from my in laws apricot trees in their back yard. Apricot turnovers here we come:o)

Favorite Photo Friday

Spring is here!!! This photo I took today and I can't decide which edit I liked the most. What do you guys think? I'll show you the Straight-Out-of-Camera shot just for comparison:

 

SOOC- Underexposed, pretty blah

Brightened it up a bit, slightly sharpened, put a little red in to balance out the blue.

Played around with a Vintage effect and then made Black and White.

  

Ran PW's Colorized action and then desaturated just a tad.

Ran PW's Old West action and then played around with the color levels a little bit.

So what do you think? I'm just so excited Spring is here and the flowers are blooming!

What's on your mind Wednesday

Just to warn you, I am pretty random in my thoughts. Just ask Hubs he'll tell you that I can jump from dogs to shopping to Paris all in one fowl swoop. So here it goes:

• I'm reading a book that the Hubs suggested and I hate it! I only continue to read it because its his favorite book. I love to read but this is terrible.
• I love to watch Gilmore Girls everyday at 3pm. Its my guilty pleasure.
• Although I despise working out I love the high you feel afterwards. My favorite right now is the elliptical. I am building up the amount of miles I can go and so far it is 4.25 miles daily. Weird and frustrating part is I haven't lost an ounce. Boo!
• I seriously love my dog, but sometimes he can be crazy. Like just now for instance he woke from a dead sleep ran off barking like a mad man. Of course there was nothing there and he sheepishly came back and fell right back to sleep.
• My favorite movie right now is Zombieland. Its disgusting, funny, and I hope they make a second one.
• I get my hair cut on Friday! Yay! I seriously need it done :o)
• For something a little more serious, I am generally pretty patient, but I think waiting until June to find out if Hubs is selected as an Officer, just may kill me.

A few of my Faves

Do you ever have those days where you feel like you can't take a good picture to save your life? Well I feel like that has been me for a couple of weeks. I am in such a photography slump. So to get me out of that funk I thought I would put up just a couple of my favorites I have taken from over the years. The car ones I took back when I only had a small cheap point and shoot.

California, we miss you

A couple weeks ago we went to California for our anniversary and to visit family. We had so much fun it was hard to leave. I really miss the nice cool weather of SoCal as opposed to SoUtah.

Of course we had to go to the beach that is a must. Matt and I packed up Ozzy and his things and hit the road. My Sister, her Husband and two girls came along too.

Ozzy had a blast running and jumping in the water. Unfortunately it isn't off leash season at the beach yet.

Meanwhile back at the ranch...

Just kidding, my parents have been raising chicken for a few months now. They decided they wanted fresh eggs and stop eating hormone and steroid treated eggs. It is amazing the difference. Even Ozzy isn't allergic to them, which he usually is.

And then there is Angus, King of the castle, or so he thinks.

He would just sit in the backyard and watch over the chickens. He didn't chase them, just watched.



We had a lot of fun visiting family and just relaxing. It was very much needed.
