Starting over

So as many of you have heard by now the Hubs did not get selected to be an Officer in the Air Force. Yes we were devastated. Apparently this was the lowest percentage of applicants accepted in a very long time; less than 10% from across the country. We spoke with the recruiter and he strongly urged reapplying, because Hubs was a very strong contender and would more than likely be accepted the next go around. After much discussion we have decided to not pursue it again. As much as it would be an awesome career and life for us, we feel that it wasn't meant to be. I am so proud of my husband and all that he worked for. He is an amazing man and I know that he will excel in anything he chooses to do.

Here is the starting over part...

We have decided to pursue something we both love and live where we would be extremely happy. We will be moving back to California, yay finally!! We will also both be going back to school, Art school to be exact. I am going back for Photography and Hubs will be going back for Illustration. We may be starving Art students, but we will be happy. I am so excited to be moving on soon and starting over again. If you have ever seen Hubs' art you know he'll be an awesome Illustrator.

So here's to living on the Beach and being Art Students!

Oh and btw the above pictures are from my in laws apricot trees in their back yard. Apricot turnovers here we come:o)

What's on your mind Wednesday

Just to warn you, I am pretty random in my thoughts. Just ask Hubs he'll tell you that I can jump from dogs to shopping to Paris all in one fowl swoop. So here it goes:
  • I'm reading a book that the Hubs suggested and I hate it! I only continue to read it because its his favorite book. I love to read but this is terrible.
  • I love to watch Gilmore Girls everyday at 3pm. Its my guilty pleasure.
  • Although I despise working out I love the high you feel afterwards. My favorite right now is the elliptical. I am building up the amount of miles I can go and so far it is 4.25 miles daily. Weird and frustrating part is I haven't lost an ounce. Boo!
  • I seriously love my dog, but sometimes he can be crazy. Like just now for instance he woke from a dead sleep ran off barking like a mad man. Of course there was nothing there and he sheepishly came back and fell right back to sleep.
  • My favorite movie right now is Zombieland. Its disgusting, funny, and I hope they make a second one.
  • I get my hair cut on Friday! Yay! I seriously need it done :o)
  • For something a little more serious, I am generally pretty patient, but I think waiting until June to find out if Hubs is selected as an Officer, just may kill me.
  • And for a touch a Spring for all of you who are stuck in the snow:

 Have a nice Wednesday everyone!!!

Woofy Wednesday!

The last weekend in January we took our little Ozzy boy to Las Vegas to enter a competition to become a Bully Ambassador for Bo & DeeMo clothing. We had a blast and there were over 100 bullies. Nine bully breeds were represented and there were no fights at all! Go Bullies!

Ozzy unfortunately didn't win an ambassador position with the company. He did however win a modeling contract! Yay! I will post more pictures of the event later, but we are off to celebrate!!

Progress Update

So alot of you have been asking how is Matt doing?

The answer: AH-MAZING!

Let me tell you I have the most amazing man for a husband. As most of you know in February 2009, He decided to join the Air Force as an Officer. In order to do so he had to lose 110lbs. Now don't be thinking I had an overweight husband, he is 6'6 and was focusing mostly on weight lifting at the time. He switched from doing weightlifting to mostly cardio and in 10 months has lost it all. He is one skinny dude now, but he looks awesome. I'll post before and after pictures later if he says it's okay.

He also had to take the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test or AFOQT in November. He passed with flying colors and now we are on to the next steps. He will take take a physical sometime before February 15th, which I have no doubts that he will do well. He has always been the active type and loves working out so he will do fine. Then the last step to the application process is in March where he will have his Selection Board. It is a panel of Air Force Officers that interview him and decide if he is right for the Air Force. Knowing Matt he will do well in this portion because he interviews really well.

After everything is finished he will be given a date to enter OTS, Officer Training School, which is basically what we all know as Boot Camp. We are very excited for this next step in our journey and although we know it will be very difficult, we are looking forward to it. I am positive that this is where we are supposed to be in our life and will be interested in where it takes us. The likely candidates for what he wants to do are Florida, Japan, Germany, Oklahoma and where ever else the Air Force would like to send you. Yay! Not too long now, we are on the home stretch!

Oh and if any of you Air Force wives have any advice for me whatsoever, I would be more than happy to listen. Thanks!

Haircut, Pumpkins and one Sicko!

Hey blog friends! I know I have been slacking on the blogging recently. Sorry I was on Vacation, yay for me :o) While there I finally got my hair cut, thank goodness it was getting a little blah.

When I got back Matt and I decided to carve our pumpkins. I know it sounds kinda lame and childish, but we have done it every year since we have been married. So it's become our little tradition. Every year we try to outdo the last and this year was no different. One of my bulldog friends found a different bulldog pattern than I did last year, so of course I had to do it. Matt found a Joker pattern online that he really liked.

After all of that fun one of us had to get sick of course. Poor Matt has to talk with a lot of people on a daily basis, some of who aren't always healthy. So of course he got the Flu, yeah you know the one the makes you go Oink, Oink. I am staying as far away as I can, while still trying to take care of the sicko. He is taking his Tamiflu, I made him homemade chicken noodle soup and we have already gone through the first gallon of Orange juice. Today was day one. So the rest of the time should be intersting. Here is the Ozzman trying to make Matt feel better. My two sweet boys :o)

Until next time bloggies! Hope all is well with you, don't go getting sick!

Up!

Okay so I know that I should have posted about this movie when I saw it, but now I am.

I LOVE this movie.

It has honestly become one of my favorite movies. It is a kid's movie, but it easily is for adults as well. It deals with some very serious issues. Issues that I personally can relate to. Young love, Infertility, lack of money, love of a dog, orphans... I could go on and on. I literally sobbed at parts in the movie. l Who knew that a movie made for children would make me cry like that. In a good way. It made me feel better about things I was dealing with.

Doug, oh, Doug. Doug is the wonderfully loyal dog, who reminds me so much of my little Ozzy. Not so bright at times, but has devoted love no matter what. My favorite line,"I hid under your porch, because I love you." Oh my word I burst into tears.

It comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray on November 10th. I know I'll be buying it. When it comes out you must go rent it at least. It is an amazing movie.
